Ride Keeper
Terms of Use
Last updated 5 August 2026
By downloading or using Ride Keeper, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the app.
Licence
Ride Keeper is licensed, not sold, to you. I grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, in accordance with the Apple Standard End User Licence Agreement, which applies to this app in addition to these terms. Where the two conflict, these terms govern to the extent permitted.
You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the app, except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
Intended use
Ride Keeper is intended as a personal bicycle maintenance and ride-recording tool.
It is not intended for professional fleet management, commercial maintenance operations, engineering analysis, or any use where inaccurate calculations could reasonably be expected to cause injury or financial loss.
Wear estimates are guidance, not a safety inspection
This is the most important thing on this page.
Ride Keeper estimates component wear by adding up the distance you have ridden since a part was installed. That is an approximation based on distance alone. It cannot account for how you ride, the terrain, the weather, mud and grit, how well the drivetrain is maintained, chain line, rider weight, the quality of the part, a manufacturing defect, or damage from a crash or impact.
A component can be worn out, cracked, or unsafe long before Ride Keeper suggests replacing it. Equally, a part the app flags may have plenty of life left.
Never rely on Ride Keeper to decide whether a bicycle is safe to ride. Inspect your bike regularly, follow the manufacturer's service intervals and torque specifications, and have any part you are unsure about — especially anything structural such as a frame, fork, handlebar, stem, steerer, seatpost, or wheel, and anything related to braking — checked by a qualified bicycle mechanic. Cycling carries an inherent risk of serious injury or death, and component failure can cause a crash.
The app is an informational record-keeping tool. It is not a safety device, not an inspection, and not a substitute for professional mechanical judgement.
Your data is your responsibility
Ride Keeper stores your data on your device and, if you enable it, in your own private iCloud storage. I have no copy of it and no way to recover it for you.
Data can be lost — if you delete the app, reset or lose your device, sign out of iCloud, or use the Delete All Data function. Keeping a backup of your device is your responsibility. I am not able to restore data that has been lost.
Apple Health
If you grant permission, the app reads cycling workouts from Apple Health. Access is read-only. iOS grants workout access as a single permission, but the app only ever queries cycling workouts, and reads only the date, distance, duration and elevation of each one. The app never writes to Apple Health. You can revoke access at any time in the iOS Settings app. How that data is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
Use the app lawfully. Do not use it in any way that interferes with it, attempts to gain unauthorised access to any system, or breaches the rights of anyone else.
No warranty
Ride Keeper is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. I do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of defects, or that any calculation it produces is accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, loss of profits, personal injury, or property damage, arising out of or in connection with your use of the app — including any decision you make about servicing, replacing, or continuing to ride a bicycle or any of its components.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights that these terms do not affect.
Apple's role
These terms are between you and me, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for it. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price where one was paid; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, or any claim arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you.
Changes to the app and to these terms
The app may change over time, and features may be added, altered or removed. These terms may be updated as well; the current version will always be at this address. If I make material changes to these terms, I will update the date at the top of this page. By continuing to use the app after those changes take effect, you agree to the updated terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Croatia, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protection provisions of the law of the country where you live.
